Two Poems

A man holding a glowing orb in his hand. The shadow of prison bars falls over his torso.

Manifest

Everything is within manifest
Somewhat similar to the mirror reflect
From inwards I project
So of a natural born reflex, I erect
Destinations where I can often caress
Victory
Infinitely implemented and actually addressed
These dreams of a reality in solitary adept
Within the context of a mission to relinquish our best
Version of our heartbeats, rhythm within our chests
Where we can arrest
The slow yet gradual learning without further reasons to object
The object an accumulation of positive affirmations
We could exchange and connect
For a fortunate proportion of pleasurable moments to digest
Yes, and in addition
To this notion where my ideas once watered
Will unquestionably grow into fruition
I'll envision closing the distance between
Our most difficult of acquisitions
To a point in which we manifest an equitable transition
So shall we step in, to the scene
Of a planted seed of inclusion arisen
And ignite an image
Of a diversified understanding of the art of giving
Into our projections mended
Given, regardless the conditions
That our compromise will never categorize a contradiction
Well then
I will for invite you all to the calm reception
Whether it is or even isn't
Often contested
To my vision
Once
Manifested

State Violence

The more I let my voice be heard, the more it remains silent
I'm the one you point your finger at, when there's discussions of violence
Yet, I wonder, can you feel the pain, that has transcended generations
Generally, of genocide and bigotry and hatred?
How then, can you genuinely apologize, when you still profit from enslavement
While welfare systems have persisted with systemic degradation
Prison systems have presented as modernized plantations
And, bodies are herded like cattle and trivial matters are its basis
I can't even begin to visualize the look on Indigenous children's faces
Whom forcefully taken from their homes, their kidnappers claimed assimilation
We've recently unearthed burial grounds of the offspring of these Natives
In addition to symbolizing their superiority, while ignoring India's pleas for reparation
Looting their precious diamonds were staged within claims of aiding with modernization
Never mind taking hostage the Queen to initiate negotiations
Her 10-year-old Maharaja released the Koh-i-Noor, under duress, a declaration
Whom after many wars, was the only one left to rule the nation
Therefore, they took this diamond from a kid like a bully at recreation
The number of lives lost to colonial preservation
Is reminiscent of dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima without hesitation
Most Black people were brought in slave ships
Shackles, chains and slave whips
And forced to cultivate arrangements, that we struggled to be embraced with
Black Wall St. was all sweet till they realized our unification
Was all we needed to boost our economic situation
Then at the pretence of some falsified accusations
Again, with all purpose and intent to implement an inferior adaptation
Into our psyche as well as an imminent monetary deprivation
Was the momentary bombing of a merry Tulsa, Oklahoma with a military invasion
History has been riddled with misplaced glorification
When those labelled as slaves were once, the founders of civilization
It's been difficult to decipher words used to describe the devastation
Countless are the examples of nations reduced to silence
Yet, I'm the one you point the finger at
When there's discussions about violence?
